Where we are so far in the process!!
10/31/09 - Made the decision to adopt; began looking at both Domestic and International options
12/2009 - Began telling family and friends about our decison to adopt.....glad that's over!!!
1/25/2010 - Completed the application for St Mary's International Adoption
1/25/2010 - Chose Jewish Family Services as our Home Study Agency (scheduled first meeting)
1/26/2010 - Got fingerprinted and received our "Law Abiding Citizen" letters from the Police Chief
1/29/2010 - Decided to expand on the age of the child we would like to 3 years old instead of 1.5
2/6/2010 - We had our first home study.. 1 down 3 to go!!
2/10/10 - Mailed the contract to St. Mary's as well as the Query background check and our DSS background check paperwork.
3/11/10 - Had my adoption physical and have been gathering paperwork for the Dossier, we have almost everything together! One more home-study and still waiting on the FBI clearance to come through.
3/22/10 - Completed all the adoption education courses that were necessary to complete.
4/28/10 - Home-study has been written and submitted and all of our paperwork has been approved by St. Mary's! This is an exciting day in terms of paperwork processing.
7/8/10 - I-800A application for determination of suitability to adopt a child from a convention country paperwork received by the United States of America.
7/15/10 - Biometrics fingerprinting appointments for Phil and I in Providence, RI.
8/20/10 - I-800 Approval came in the mail today!!!! This is it, the final document, time to celebrate. Who's up for PF Chang's tonight????
8/26/10 - All final documents Appostiled and completed Dossier mailed to St. Mary's, as well as the translator in Poland. Now we wait!!
11/20/10 - OK this waiting is starting to get old...lol! I am anxiously awaiting our referral. Being a control freak by nature is not good in a situation in which you have no control and you can not plan for anything!! I am trying to have faith and put things in God's hands!!
12/3/10 - Tonight we received a call from the agency with a referral for a sibling group. Unfortunately that is not something at this time we could consider...so we continue the wait. :)
05/03/11 - Received "THE" call from the head of the adoption agency....Our daughter is beautiful! We can't wait to meet her. We were told we should be in Poland by May 20th but have not yet received a date.
05/05/11 - Today Phil and I ordered some gifts for the caregivers at the orphanage as well as the directors at the Polish Adoption Authority, our driver and translator...not to mention 100 stuffed animals for the children at the orphanage. I also signed up for 4 private Polish lessons. This is going to be a busy couple of weeks.
05/17/11 - We leave this evening to Poland - 11 HOURS of flight...but we can't wait!!
05/19/11 - This morning we had our meeting with the director of the orphanage and the woman from the central adoption agency. It went very well and after the meeting we were finally able to meet with Kinga. She is perfect and our lives have all changed for ever!!
5/19 - 5/22 - Were able to visit Kinga every morning from 9-12 then in the afternoon from 3-6. Our bonding went great and we can't wait to bring her home. I wish it could be this trip.
5/23/11 - On our way home :( I miss Kinga already!!
5/24/11 - Filled out and notarized the Power of Attorney letter.
5/28/11 - Called the Orphanage and spoke to Kinga. It was great...miss her even more now!! :(
